The audiobook was sooooo painful, seriously I wonder if I would have liked the book if it werent for his droning voice. Ick. But also the writing was clunky and the pace was weird.

Spoiler I truly don't understand what patroculus brings to the table, his only job in the whole plot was to talk about loving achilles he had almost no personality or actions otherwise

Perhaps it's just that it couldn't compare to [b:Circe|35959740|Circe|Madeline Miller|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1565909496l/35959740._SY75_.jpg|53043399].

Madeline Miller must have the gods on her side because she does not miss. I loved Circe but had been scared to read her first work. Mainly because I am not a huge fan of male protagonists or war stories. I should have known it would be amazing since Miller is behind it. She breathes new life into old stories and myths. I felt transported to a different era and place but still felt very connected to the characters. I also appreciate that she didn’t shy away from the horrors women faced in Ancient Greece but also didn’t go into graphic detail. I will read anything she writes.
