I'd say this book is a challenging read for the average reader (aka me), although good and thought provoking. The story's not looking to entertain us or even answer our questions, instead the reader must adapt whatever their initial expectations might have been to what the book is actually offering. We look at this world through the eyes of our nameless protagonist and experience every single she goes through: from the initial wonders about the world we're set in, to the confusion the women live in every day, and finally the resignation of this reality. We don't ever get to know more than she does and she's just as lost as we are throughout the way. It took a few days to read but never, even once, lost my interest. This is definitely a bittersweet story and the characters are doomed from the start so don't expect a hopeful ending, still it's an interesting and experimental vision and 100% worth the effort. If you came looking for a resolution to every mystery or a dangerous dystopian story, you might want to go back. If you don't mind a heavy-narration book, a slow-paced story and reflecting about the human condition and behavior, this story might be for you.
