More akin to "The Mystery of Marie Roget" than the legendary "The Murders In The Rue Morgue," which was quite the letdown.

Good. You can never go wrong with a detective short story. I didn’t enjoy the finale because I don’t understand what revenge or sibling rivalry could have to do with the plot. Still, fun read.

My first Poe and I find it hard to believe that, based on the 1001 Books list, it’s one of his top three works. I realize he deserves credit for inventing a genre but it was so dull and bland, talking about a mystery is not very exciting. I’m hoping I enjoy his horror works much more.

I wasn’t big brained enough, sorry Poe
