“You should quick read The Five People You Meet in Heaven,” my sister told me when I put down my last book. “It's on my favorite books list. I don't even know why I like it so much, but I do.”

I know why she likes it, and why I love it just as much.
Mitch Albom has a new and beautiful story to tell—a comforting philosophy. He makes you stop and think with every turn of the page. And not just think about the story, but about your life and the far-reaching consequences and what everything means. He tells it in an intense and captivating style, bringing his words to life in vivid pictures, communicating emotions and important values and lessons straight to the heart.
I've never read something like this before—never. I can't even compare it to other literary works. And it's not modern or strange for its originality, it's universal and welcoming.
I expect to read this again in the future.

PS: I know I mentioned this in the content warnings, but I thought I should make a quick personal note. A good chunk of Eddie's story takes place during/in WW2, and the author does not shy away from the details. I got lightheaded just reading some of the descriptions. So if you're a sensitive reader, you might want to go into this book carefully.

Well executed and interesting concept. You really get to know Eddie and the impact he has on people's lives without him even knowing some of them. And the story makes you realise that that is the same for every person. Good read.

I loved this book. This author’s writing is so moving. I liked the characters and the plot and how everything was connected. This is a great story that I intend to revisit some day.
p.s. Eddie and marguerite’s love was enchanting

I walked into this book expecting it to be sad and you expect for me not to shed any tears right? Wrong! I was definitely tearing up especially towards the end. I just don't even know how to explain my thoughts towards this book. In the beginning it felt like something I'd read for school so I got a little nervous but I should learn to be patient because I just started the book at that point. I like how this author attempts to tackle the concept of heaven into his own interpretation. And the way he incorporates the people that main character has encountered is genius. There so many shocking moments in this book too. Ughhhhh I can't really express how this book made me feel into words but just know I thought it was great. I'm literally about to read the second one right now!

There is one thing that bugged me though
on the third person part where he is suppose to forgive his dad for his father's abuse kinda didn't sit right with me. Also the scene where his mother was sexually assaulted and the third person, Ruby was excusing Mickey's actions because he was drunk and sad cuz he got laid off of a job. Like what?! If I didn't like the previous parts of the book and wasn't so stubborn I would've put it down.

i picked this one up on a whim because my co-worker recommended it to me and it's a short one. i brought it on a flight to az from va and read the entire thing start to finish. it truly changed my life and the way i think about different things and i never take for granted the people that come in and out of my life. i loved everything about this story. everything. just talking about it makes me want to re read it.
