More magical goings on in rural Kent during World War II and this time Faye Bright and the other witches are dealing with Jewish refugees as well as other supernatural goings on. A lot more action and magical goings on than in its predecessor but a true “keep calm and carry on” spirit is present with every page. Despite some of the dark episodes, this is a novel which carries a real warmth and hope,

A perfect easy-read filled with magic and mystery in the British countryside. It felt very 'Murder, She Wrote,' if Jessica were a witch trying to solve a murder during WW2, and I loved it for that. I'll definitely be reading more in the Witches of Woodville series!

I am absolutely loving these books and am so glad I brought them on a whim from Waterstones in Thanet.

The characters are continuing to be loveable, so much so that I loved Klaus and the children immediately and was very distraught when Klaus died only a few chapters later.

The pace of this one was much faster which I enjoyed immensely, and I can almost feel Fayes frustration of not being allowed to do any decent magic.

Her inner conflict over Bertie was adorable and very teenage without being trite, and her Dads growth from "you are gonna run the pub" to allowing her to do her own thing was adorable and I loved it. We love to see growth.

The children, all adorable, Max, I hope he played lots of chess. I loved Fayes final vision and the plague she made for Klaus for the tree.

The pilots. Oh the pilots had me in absolute stitches, as did Mr Gilbert and Mr Brewer. Those two might beat Faye and Charlotte out for my faves. I get the feeling we're not supposed to like Charlotte but I do.

Also, Fayes casual acceptance that she's probably bisexual is just *chefs kiss*.

Ultimately these stories are combining my love of WW2 stories, planes, pilots and witches.

Keep 'em coming.
