I read this book to understand the concept of story boarding and framing better and the book delivered on that and more. The book is not a guide on how to draw but it teaches bare basic concepts of camera, shot composition and lighting extremely well. Even a layman can pick up the book and understand concepts of direction. I’m glad I read it and I wish I had read it sooner.

Excellent resource for intermediate illustrators looking to refine their compositions. Key aspects of visual storytelling, supplemented with specific visual examples and explanations of why these techniques are advantageous.

Contrast is the way we see anything at all.

Book full of incredible art and great yet simple advice. Perfect to turn to for general inspiration or to help you solve a specific problem.

Let's go with 4.8 since I wish it involved excersises for practising the concepts it teaches :) But still the most helpful artbook I found to date.

Fantastic book! Full of very clear examples. Even the sections that focus on comics have concepts that are useful for a painter. (Ex, dividing a subject so that it looks fragmented increase the tension in a scene)
