Eh, this was okay. I mean, it's a Bigfoot novel, so it was only ever going to be so good. If anything, I'm surprised at the fact that I didn't hate it. It was just average in every way. Definitely my least favorite of the Paperbacks from Hell re-releases.

This story just didn't grab me. It sounded like it was going to be fun, and I've seen plenty of reviews from people who loved it, but I was bored. I'm determined to find a Bigfoot story that I like, as this is the second one this year I've read and didn't like (the first was [b:Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre|52454426|Devolution A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre|Max Brooks|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1566875204l/52454426._SX50_SY75_.jpg|71282717]).

This was good. I wanted a book about people on the hunt for bigfoot and that was exactly what I got. The story was interesting enough that I found myself glued to the page trying to find out what happens next.

Absolutely excellent pulp horror fiction that manages to hit a little deeper than most. Underneath it all The Spirit is about modern society losing its way concerning nature and its own humanistic touch. Nothing is quite what it initially seems in this book, and we end up with characters who are deeply flawed, often violent but disturbingly recognizable

I'll certainly read more from Thomas Page.
