loved the ending, valentine got what he deserved. also, why was he so much more humanized in this book compared to the last two???? is it because jocelyn woke up and decided to tell clary the entire story? anyways that epilogue was so good, i'm looking forward to the next book woop woop

Wow what a journey. I have so many thoughts on this book. It’s currently 11:56 PM — almost midnight, and yet I’m still awake to note down my thoughts.

So let me make this clear there were many problems I have from the first two books, City of Bones and City of Ashes. Don’t get me wrong, I think the whole concept of it was so unique and absolutely amazing. But I just.... dislike the character and I feel like the story was drag on so much.

Clary was just irritating to me in the first two books as well as Simon. I know that I shouldn’t be so mad at them because they are just doing what they think is right and those are their emotions. But I just can’t. They seem so selfish and arrogant. I can’t really understand why other characters talk so highly of Clary, when her personality is just so annoying. The relationship Clary and Simon Have is just so unpleasant, it may just be me but I hated their relationship. Not friendship but relationship. I hate how you could just make their friendship turn into THIS. I really have no words to explain it.
The pacing was also so slow... well it felt really slow in my opinion. It’s like you have to read to half the book before anything really intriguing that’s happened. Let me clarify this, these are my thoughts on the first two books.

In City of Glass, most of the problems were being fix and I’m so glad. I started to joining reading it more, and I start to have deep connection with the characters. I really like Simon in this book and Clary was way better. Jace and Isabella is... AMAZING! If you have read it then you know about the fight scene where Clary have arrive at Idris and ran all the way to the PenHallows to tell Jace. Those words that has been said to Clary, I 100% agreed. Even though I knew Jace didn’t mean it.

The plot was so well plan out and I like how FINALLY Jace and Clary could be together. Although I didn’t like Clary in the first two books, I still shipped her with Jace. I don’t really want to tell you, you have to read it if you didn’t. The plot is just.... mindblowing.

Another thing I wanted to note down was Valentine death. I know angels are powerful but the way Valentine, so easy and swift felt right but also wrong. I know that I’m probably the only person who felt this way but I pity Valentine a little. If only he could see the good in the world. I also pity Jace and Clary for their father’s death.

The pacing was better in my opinion. It was faster this time and lots of thing were happening at once which make it even more interesting.

All in all, City of Glass fix many problems I have with the first two books (City of Bones and City of Ashes). I really enjoyed the story and I’m glad I picked this up.

Sidenote: I just wanted to say this is the three book in the series and my favorite number is 3. So I guess the saying “third times the charm” is true.

While I really enjoy the story line, I'm struggling to get emotionally invested in Clary's character. She annoys me more often than not. However, I'm really digging the author's play on Milton.
