While I didn't love this book as much as the first, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it! To me this book just seemed like a filler, setting up a lot of the action that would come at the end of the volume! There was a bit of a cliffhanger at the end but not enough of one that I'll be rushing to buy the next book!

I liked the shonen-ness of it all, but I recently read a book where a man's wife was thrilled by the ending this volume, so I had high expectations and hey! They were *sort of* met! I am hyped enough to keep reading at least!

The class is about to practice hostage rescue at the Unforseen Simulation Joint (USJ), but they’re interrupted by a group of villains looking to kill All Might. Several different groups of students get warped across the USJ while the two teachers, Eraserhead and Thirteen, try to hold the villains off. Deku is transported with Tsuyu and Mineta, and they work together outsmart the villains that beset them. Eraserhead is neutralized and Thirteen is caught between two of his own black holes. Class President Ida uses his race-car-engine legs to run back to school and get help. Kacchan and his partner neutralize their bad guys as well only to be met with the strongest of all the villains yet.

This novel continues with the fast-paced narration of the first volume, so it seems that is going to be the way this series operates. We are getting more students introduced and highlighted with every chapter, and the quirks are all really interesting. Nothing is as basic as super speed - rather, Ida has exhaust pipes sticking out of his legs, and his calves are basically little engines. Kacchan doesn't just throw fire from his hands - his sweat glands secrete flammable liquid that he ignites and can direct towards something. The details and thought-process Horikoshi puts into developing these super-powers is really something unique about this series as opposed to other super-hero driven stories. The artwork is very detailed even in the blurry fight scenes, so everything is easy to follow, and characters are easy to distinguish, even outside of their costumes.

VIZ rates this series for teens, and that continues to be an appropriate age rating.
