This definitely scratched my Rothfuss itch while waiting for book 3 (which will hopefully release… one day). To be honest, this book isn’t really about anything. It’s a story about one day and the cast of characters along the way. but it was so wholesome, and left such a good feeling in my heart. As always, Rothfuss has such a beautiful writing style and I enjoyed every minute. This was the perfect palate cleanser in between larger books. I was able to read it in one sitting.

«El estrecho sendero entre deseos», el regreso de Patrick Rothfuss al mundo de su famosa trilogía, es otra historia "cuqui" fantasy al estilo de «La música del silencio» donde apenas pasan cuatro cosas (con Bast de protagonista) pero nos recuerda lo bonito que escribe Rothfuss.

As someone who actually hasn't read the other books in Patrick Rothfuss'
The Kingkiller Chronicle series yet, I absolutely loved The Narrow Road Between Desires! :) The Narrow Road Between Desires definitely made me want to read the other books in The Kingkiller Chronicle series. (Yes, I already know how long people have been waiting for The Doors of Stone to be released; and about the whole controversy regarding Patrick Rothfuss and the charity.)

My rating/score: 4 1/2 out of 5 stars on Goodreads' rating system / 9 out of 10 on my own personal scoring system.

Rothfuss can really write when ,,, he writes. Cool illustrations. Love the fact that it focuses on Bast. Surprisingly heartwarming end. Somewhat soothes the pain of 11+ years of no Doors of Stone.

In theory and in a shortened version, this would have been a great short story for the Kingkiller-universe. But as it stands, there were a couple of details that just irked me. I enjoyed all the interactions between Bast and the children, those were great! But I disliked how much time was spent on voyeurism and other sex-related things. Especially with the illustrations stressing those scenes, that aspect of the story felt very gratuitous and like it's a central aspect of the story (when it didn't need to be).

This seems like such a dumb review to write but in part because I just would not have expected to encounter that kind of problem with the book? I read it with my boyfriend so my pace was dictated by his pace and everytime I took a break from reading, the one thing that was most prominent in my mind how confused I was about all the weird sex-stuff. Just... why.

I do want to stress, though, that I did love the interactions with the children. Those were either a lot of fun or very wholesome. Bast getting up to mischief and lightheartedly tricking/being tricked by children is great plot.

I love clever books with Fae, and this one was a delight. There was wit, careful deals, not-quite-lying, but above all, the story had a lot of heart. I read it in two sittings and it felt like a warm blanket.

"a veces, lo único que tenemos es un poco de dulzura. siempre vale la pena. aunque cueste un poco de trabajo."

esta es una novelita de esas en las que pasa poca cosa, pero rothfuss lo cuenta todo con un cariño y una solemnidad capaces de convertir lo más pequeño en magnífico. no solo es una humilde ventana a la magia de este universo, sino que es, ante todo, una historia amable. qué importa más que eso. patrick, te quiero siempre. gracias por las palabras.

A spinoff book that doesn’t feel necessary. Not at all bad, just a bit pointless. Fun, short & well written enough to engage with. It flows & has the tone of fables. I like being in this world.
