This was a “I really like the cover and it sounds interesting” pickup for me, but I’m really glad that I did. It really kept me on my toes with the suspects & character building. I’m intrigued to see how the 2nd book will play out

I would like to thank the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was so excited to get to read this! I loved its setting, a fantasy world, with a murder mystery as its main storyline and the main character was a blast to have with you as you progressed through the story.
The main character is Catrin, or Cat as she likes to be called, and we follow her throughout the story. At the start, she witnesses the murder of someone she knows, even though, with how far away she is from the event, she shouldn’t be able to. She joins up with master detective Simon in order to find the murderer and thus continues the story…
This storyline was so much fun to read. It kept you engaged all throughout, and left you wanting to continue on late into the night to discover who the murderer was. However, I felt like the romantic subplot was a bit too rushed, as I felt no chemistry between Cat and the love interest, and it thus felt a bit unnecessary to be included in the book or should have had more time to develop. On top of that, I felt like the last 10 or 15% of the book was a bit of a mess, as Cat keeps switching between thinking who the murderer is without proper motivation.
The magick system on the other hand was so interesting! I loved seeing how certain characters were able to use special skills when exposed to moonlight, and I felt like this was such a unique way of magic in a fantasy world.
Blood and Moonlight is a fun fantasy murder mystery, but unfortunately lacked in some aspects for me in the storyline. Overall, I still definitely recommend this book!

I saw this book and read the summary and knew immediately I wanted to read it and I wasn't wrong.
Catrin is our main character and she has a special ability to spot flaws in the construction of the holy sanctum before anything bad can happen. When she is out one night looking over the building, she witnesses a murder and is pulled into the investigation to help try to stop the murderer before they strike again.
Assigned to officially investigate the crime is Simon, a distant relative of the town leader. He has insights into the mind of the killer that prove to be strangely accurate and as he and Catrin work together to stop the murderer, they find themselves drawn to each other and as their relationship changes, they disclose secrets that could put them both in danger.
I really enjoyed this book and if you're looking for a new standalone YA with a bit of mystery and magic, definitely pick this one up.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
