Once again thank you Briar Boleyn for giving me the opportunity to fall in love with Draven -- i mean for letting me review this book lol. Thank you Netgally as well!

This book is the second of a sequel and can I just saw... THIS BOOK was way better than the first one. You already know the characters and can we say how I love so much Morgan and Draven they are so fierce and stubborn and kind, it's all I want in MCs.

Court of Claws gives you suspense, laughter and spice --- a lot of steamy scenes that I adored. I devoured it in a day and I can't wait for the third book!!! If you enjoy the world full of different fae races trust me this is a great book to pick up.

Enemies to lovers, fae magic, fake dating-ish, warrior FMC & MMC spice & more!!!

The taste of him sent me lightheaded and spinning, a heady concoction of everything I had always believed forbidden and yet secretly yearned for.

What an AMAZING, although slightly mixed, follow-up! Morgan and Draven continue to grow (mainly Draven, though) and learn about one another and their chemistry is top-tier. And many of the newly introduced characters had something special and worthwhile to bring to the story and dynamics.

There were two factors that led me to take off 1 star from my rating:

1. I felt like, while there was definitely some growth, Morgan really annoyed me at times. She could be very petulant at times and uses "hate" far too strongly. I tend to be really opposed to using the word "hate" unless absolutely deserved, but Morgan throws it around left and right towards the man she clearly loves. I kind of shrugged it off, but her using it again toward the very end really seemed unbearable. It's also fair to acknowledge that Draven does do some problematic things, but her inability to even try to talk things through or understand his reasonings is so enraging. I really hope this does not continue into the final book.

2. While I love the new kingdom we were introduced to, I felt rather disappointed and a little confused that we were taken away from Morgan's homeland, which is at war, for the entirety of this over 600-page book. If not for the visions that were included, I may have felt like it pulled me away from the original story/purpose too much.

Overall, I loved this so much and I cannot wait for the third book! I am really hoping to see some real growing up from Morgan, along with an acknowledgment of her spoiled and childish attitude, otherwise, it may be a one-time read of a series. And I definitely do not want this, for so many characters and the world itself are SO amazing! It's just hard to look past an FMC that is so frustrating.

Favorite elements:
-Dark fantasy, borderline elements of horror
-Slow burn enemies to lovers
-Morally grey characters with complex relationships
-He falls first
-Arthurian retelling with fae
-One bed trope
-Twists and turns followed by a cliffhanger
-Hunger Games-type trials
-Found family
-Mysterious magic and past

A companion shares the path, no matter where it leads and no matter how painful.

❤︎ NETGALLEY REVIEW ❤︎

thank you again to netgalley, briar boleyn, and starwater press for sending me this arc for free in exchange for an honest review! please check trigger warnings before you read!

court of claws picks up where queen of roses left off. i loved this book a little more than the first one! this book was a slow burn book, i don’t usually like slow burns but this was worth it. there was more romance, drama, and action as you read more. this book did keep me on the edge of my seat because of so many twists and turns.

the only thing that made me a little upset was that there was so much miscommunication and secrets between kairos and morgan’s relationship, but after reading why i understood a lot better.

also it ended on a freaking cliffhanger! definitely recommend and a must read for fantasy lovers.

Book two was packed full of action and adventure. After almost dying, Morgan wakes up in Siabra, where Draven is the prince. She faces betrayal, loss and trials she has never seen. She must help Draven win the blood trials to make it home to Camelot to stop her brothers war. As she learns more about the world Draven is from, she struggles to reconcile the kind man she is getting to know with the brutal world she is from. Morgan must master herself and learn as much as she can about this new world and the man she is tied to in it.

This book required you to basically learn an entirely new world, with only some knowledge from book one coming over. While this could definitely have been daunting, learning everything along side Morgan made it manageable. I never felt behind or like I didn’t have the information I needed because every time something new came about, Morgan was also a little clueless. I loved getting to see and learn more about Draven. The first book he felt like a mystery, so getting to see his world and learn who he is was awesome. It was so fun meeting his friends and watching Morgan become a part of his circle. His friends became her friends, and she slowly began to fit perfectly into her place with him. As Morgan began to embrace her relationship with Draven, you also got to see her start to embrace herself. The two went hand in hand. Draven helped her see her worth and the power she held and believed in her more than she believed in herself.

I absolutely love Morgan and Draven together, so I need her to forgive him asap because they are so good together. I know he messed up lying to her, but he really thought he was doing what was best and he truly cares for her.

Briar, I will never forgive you for Brek. Ever. My heart was ripped from my chest and stomped on.

This book was so much fun to read. I loved every minute and I cannot wait to read book three.
