This memoir is simply beautiful. The prose is lyrical in nature, capturing the lucid dream state that memories can occupy. The book cleverly presents parallel processes in a way that feels entirely natural. It is an incredible dive into the nature of memory, the relationship between mother and daughter, grief in all its forms and the guilt we might feel whilst embarking on our own hero’s journey.

I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in psychology, neuroscience, art and their intersection. It constitutes the most realistic depiction of psychosis and the helplessness of the other in the face of it. It also examines our own edges, the edges of ‘normalcy’.

A gorgeous weaving of fairytale, science, wonder! A must for anyone with a Jungian leaning- although I do not think this was intentional.
