Honestly thought it was kind of boring until the last 10 chapters. Everything just worked out too perfectly and the case had none of the intrigue that I loved from the first book.

**I received a complimentary copy of this book for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

First of all, it is important to note that this is book two in the Kaely Quinn Profiler series. Personally, I had not read the first book prior to this one and would honestly say that it stood on it's own quite well. There were several references made to something that had happened in the past that I can only assume were covered in that book, but it in no way affected my ability to keep up with this story. I will say as great as this one was though, I would certainly appreciate getting that extra back story!

From page one this book had me at the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next and it carried on right through the last page. It had a creepy element to it that kept me enthralled. Pretty early on in the book, I was able to get a reasonable guess at 'whodunnit', but there were still many questions left unanswered that made you wonder. Even through the very ending, having guessed correctly at some point there were more secrets revealed that I truly did not see coming. Isn't that how a great suspense novel should be?

I was definitely drawn in by Kaely. She is quite the unique character with some pretty significant issues of her own (which I am curious to see if they were addressed in the previous book), which made her all the more intriguing. I look forward to seeing more about her in future books in the series. Though I would say the suspense was the main focus of this story, there was a hint of romance touched upon. While I am glad that it wasn't the focus of this particular story, it does seem to set it up to be addressed in future books and I look forward to that.

For the most part, this was a fabulous story. However, I will say the final few chapters seemed a bit rushed to me. At the point where the arsonist is revealed, it seemed to leap in the story a bit. I had to reread it a few times thinking I had somehow missed something. To be honest, I'm not entirely convinced that a small section hadn't somehow been left out of the advanced digital copy I had received. Despite that though, I still really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I didn't care too much for this one. It was okay but I felt like it dragged on much too long. The faith was quite weak and I was disappointed that the romance between Noah and Kaely wasn't developed more. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, though, as I'm hoping it will wrap up the loose ends of the first two books. 3 stars.

Kaely is called to the town her mom lives in by her brother Jason to help care for their mother Marcie.  The three of them don't really have a good relationship due to the past.  The town is suffering from a rash of fires that are deemed accidents, but Kaely sees a pattern.  Starting an investigation of her own she speaks with the fire chief, sheriff, and townspeople.  Not being there officially she is pulled off into another investigation and paired with Noah again.  When the investigation they are working on goes sideways they are sent together to investigate the fires.  Too much is not adding up, there's a slew of suspects from the past & present, a Kaely is having problems with her investigative technique.  Stronger feelings for Noah are developing that she's denying and is taking a stress toll.  Trying to mend fences with her mother and both of their selfishness is affecting her too.  Life and death come into play with a twisted relentless killer who has Kaely in his sights.

What an enjoyable read! I enjoyed seeing the development of Kaley as the series progresses. Once again, in my opinion, the Christian element was not overdone- however, I did know going into this book that it was a Christian based novel and enjoyed that element of the story. Nancy Mehl is a master of suspense- I truly did not know the outcome until the very end!

Wow! Are all of Nancy's books this good?

Mind Games introduced us to Kaeley and Noah, a brand new team working for the FBI.

I was so worried about reading this one, since I loved Mind Games so much! Thankfully, there was nothing to worry about, as this book is just as amazing as the first!

Where to start!

The crime was really interesting, and it left you suspecting everyone, wondering who it might be. All the characters are really well written and it was easy to feel like a part of the community. I wanted those arsons solved! The characters all develop really well over the book, I loved seeing their growth along with getting to know them more.

I loved that this book was full of faith and God. Kaeley is a Christian and this book definitely has several faith subplots woven into one. It had me reflecting on things like forgiveness, prayer, love, and family. Any book that makes you think and reflect on your faith is a winner to me. There was also a conversation Kaeley and Noah (who is not a believer) had that was really interesting and definitely something to think about.

The romance was once again subtle, as this is the second book in the series (if I haven't made it clear yet, this one can't stand alone like many series books can) but it felt perfect. There was definitely a bit more romance in this than the last as the characters grow more comfortable with each other. I'm interested to see how it develops.

Overall, I'd say this book has no flaws and will keep you reading. I read it in about 3 hours.

I did guess who the criminal was, unlike in Mind Games, but not until the very end. I also don't see that as a negative thing, it's fun to be able to figure out the bad guy and be right sometimes!

I would recommend this book to any fan of suspense, whether romantic or not, thriller or law enforcement fans. I think it can really appeal to a wide variety of readers. I'd recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys reading, it's that good. Of course, I'd have to recommend the first book with it, because without it you'd just be confused.

Already got my preorder in for the next in the series and I'm anxiously awaiting for the end of March!

5 stars out of 5 stars. It's just that good.
