The twist was more devastating than I could have imagined and it made me nauseous for 20% of the book. Loved and hated it at the same time but anything that makes me emotional as this earned its 5 stars.

So the first 60-ish of the book, I was thinking the romance got together a little too quickly and I wasn't really sure where it would go in the last 40% - - but then the big twist DID happen, and I had not expected it AT ALL, and I was suddenly sooo invested in the story. Like, the first 60% is sweet and I probably would have given the story 3.5 or 4 stars if it had just been that, but that last 40% really took the story up a notch.
My critics of this book keeping it from having 5 stars: the camping trip and wedding they go on had 0 lead up - especially the camping trip, which starts in like chapter 3. I would have loved some kind of explanation of why the camping trip was happening, since the book starts with "high school setting!" and then suddenly they're going camping. Like one paragraph of a teacher in the first chapter calling Tim over to talk about the camping trip or something would have helped.
I also wish the sisters were a bit more supportive of Tim, or at least said something nice about Jamie after they got to know him.

I thought maybe Jamie's ex Pat might show up again and cause problems, because there was that one red herring of Jamie seeing someone he thought was Pat.My critics of this book keeping it from having 5 stars: the camping trip and wedding they go on had 0 lead up - especially the camping trip, which starts in like chapter 3. Are you ready for angsty emotional roller coaster? Ok well where to start! Jamie Tim are both working at the same school and the attraction is instant! Tim is a single dad and has had a loss in his life . This is an age gap but you don’t notice the difference! I will tell you that when the story does that turn….. you better buckle up because it was a doozy! Honestly I liked the book and gave it 4 stars but I still fill indifferently about the twist but overall the romance was sweet and it was a page turner for sure.
