Very YA, which isn’t always my thing. I loved the concept and the magic system. The mystery was intriguing as well. But I just don’t connect with high school age characters.

“Colors for fabric, paintings on walls, beautiful music—none of these things are necessary. However, humans are more than their need to survive.”

I am so glad I read this again!! It was so good to refresh my memory on this story in hopes of the second one coming out soon (I really want it soon, but fate has me in a chokehold). This book is breathtaking and definitely one of my favorites ever.

I really enjoyed this mysterious world full of alive drawings and mysterious Geometry. Some of the ending doesn't make sense to me yet but maybe will do with the next book.

Brandon Sanderson does it again. A simple magic system, yet infinitely complex in its application, this book was off the charts for me. This book is perfect for someone who loves art, or someone who loves math. That may sound odd, but after reading the book it makes perfect sense.

I would absolutely use this in my classroom. This book is a great way to show kids that different doesn't mean bad. All Joel wants in life is to be a Rithmatist, but he's not, AND THAT'S OKAY.
