Excellent.

Only thing I would change would be a little more detail in the ending. Great read otherwise. I shed a few tears!

It took me a little bit to get into this book, but when I did there was no turning back. Some of the plot seemed a little far-fetched but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book and the feeling I felt at the end.

Emily, Gone is my last book of 2022 and another top favorite. Oh man, what a journey this was.  I am a momma and a Nana. This had my feels all OVER the place.

Bette Lee Crosby is a newer author for me and I have absolutely loved every book I've read by her so far. I am working my way thru her backlist and couldn't be more excited.

Her stories are so full of heart, and just so packed full of emotions that I get wrapped up and lost while I'm reading. I had to stop a few times while reading this as I was tearing up so much I couldn't see. Couldn't be more of a perfect way to end the year...with love, hope and family.

I sincerely appreciate the author for providing a review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book had come so highly recommended that I moved it up on my TBR pile. It didn't disappoint, and I can see why many feel this book should be made into a movie.
Any parent would relate to the horror of waking up to find your infant gone from their crib!
That, in itself, cemented my intense interest in what happened, how the family will ever be able to move forward, and how the story will end.
The author doesn't tie up the story in a short time, the story covers several years and weaves in backstory as to why people act the way they do. And, she doesn't take the easy way out in "solving" the mystery. It's a wonderful, heartfelt, heartbreaking, and heartwarming story!

Great book! Kept my interest throughout the entire book. It is sad in certain parts and happy in some. It is about a girl that has a stillborn baby takes someone else’s baby but I won’t spoil it. It certainly doesn’t go the way I thought it would.

A very good read.

Just as the title states, this was a very good book from the start. Kept me thrilled and wanting to read more the entire time. Great author!

Found this book through Prime Reading last year and just finally listened to it. It was kind of predictable, but in a sweet way.

Emotional

I was moved to tears from the very beginning of this book to the very end. Reading this book really taught me a lot about true forgiveness and faith. Be prepared to shed a lot of tears. Highly recommended this book!

Emily, Gone had me captivated from its first pages until the last ones because of the superb storytelling of Bette Lee Crosby. The book starts in the small town of Hesterville, Georgia in 1971. The Dixon family lives close to Baker field where a music festival takes place. Vicki and her boyfriend Murph are attendees at the festival. A very stoned and hungry Vicki asks Murph to stop at the Dixons house, so she can steal food. What she ends up doing instead is kidnapping Emily, the Dixons' baby. We follow what happens to the lives of the Dixons and Emily for the next 18 years.

Grief, heartbreak, compassion, forgiveness, and healing are some of the themes that are tackled so beautifully in this novel. The book tugs at your heartstrings. The characters are drawn expertly and I felt like I knew them. I was so engrossed in the story. I kept visualizing myself sitting in the front porch with Rachel and mama Dixon and crocheting along with them and listening to Mama Dixon's advice and wisdom.

When you sit down with this book, please know that you may not be able to put it down. I was curled up on my couch with my Kindle glued to my hands for hours.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
