I love this. I hated it. It was super entertaining and super annoying all at the same time. On one hand, I really wanted to devour it as quick as possible and on the other hand I was so tempted to DNF. But given that I was doing this as a buddy read with a bunch of amazing girls on Instagram, I stuck with it.

This book is like a big, gooey, messy cheeseburger. It's so good in the moment. You just want to lick your fingers and absorb all that grease and that processed meat and just enjoy it while you're having it. And then it is an entire day of regret because you're on a diet and you just ate 3000 calories in one burger.

You get what you're expecting. It is a book with alien smut and you're going to get alien smut that borders on erotica in the sense that there is quite a lot of smut in conjunction with the plot. Actually, there's not much plot. There's just a little bit of plot sprinkled in now and then.

The thing that frustrated me the most about the book was the writing. Firstly, Georgie is written like everybody's best friend. She's a girl you can meet on the street. She's your bestie who you're going out for a drink with down at the bar. I felt like I was reading a journal entry from someone from high school, just throwing in a couple of swear words and a horny brain. The dialog and the writing style is not very deep.

The other thing that I didn't like is I've read books that have had characters that cannot communicate due to a language barrier and the way that their communication was described using body language or through actions instead of phonetic dialog just seems like a better way to go. I didn't appreciate having to try and figure out and deduce what these characters were saying phonetically to each other. Just include some description of hand movements for I'm hungry. Instead of including the text "eymhuhgree".

The characters...As I mentioned, Georgie is your best friend. She is nothing special. She's really frustrating and makes really stupid decisions. And I'm pretty sure she should have died a few times given her idiocy. I also don't get her motives for how quickly she starts getting frisky with Vektal. As much as he is a gorgeous softie at heart. Vektal was adorable and I think I loved his character the most because while he was so primitive in his behavior, he was still super progressive in terms of putting his woman first and putting her needs first, which you don't often see for a character that's normally an alpha. He was gentle, caring and nurturing, and yes... it was all because he really wanted a baby but it was sweet.

The plot, the small tiny sprinkling of it that was there, was good. It does look like Ruby Dixon has done research into sci-fi and how she concocted her world that made the story was really enticing.

If you want a quick read that you can pick up and speed through that is super gripping, this will be for you!! Because something that Ruby Dixon can do and do really well, is tell an engaging story. Every chapter ended on a mini cliffhanger and I couldn't wait to get into the next chapter. I was dying to see what was going to happen next....

AND I was dying because the writing was slowly but surely eating my brain cells. But I enjoyed it! And I can see why so many people love this because it really is a comfort to read. This book doesn't take itself too seriously so you can just enjoy it!

Will I be picking up another book? Yes, I will!
I'll eventually get to one more and then decide if this series is for me or not!

Honestly, it had more plot than I was expecting.  I kinda went into this as a joke but it was somewhat cute.  The world building was nice, along with the characters.  But it was too much of an insta-love for me, not to mention the comments about pregnancy, just not my thing.  Definitely an interesting read though.

Sci-fi
Fantasy
Happy Ending
Soulmates (kinda)
Alien Smut (pretty much)

The writing and flow made this book easy to read, I understand why it's so popular, and it was an enjoyable read at times, knocked it down a star because I would have enjoyed this a lot more as just a cutesy lil monster fucking book. And that's what it should have been if the author had no real intention of giving the characters anything more than a few fumes of a backstory or characterisation. It is a fun lil smut book otherwise and should have started that way.

I’m actually so embarrassed to have read this that I considered not rating/reviewing it at all. Without a doubt the worst book I’ve ever read, I can’t believe booktube convinced me this was good.
Trigger warnings galore!!
There is alien rape in the first chapter, and the love story begins and continues with very blatant lack of consent, aliens aside this AIN’T IT. Bad bad bad bad bad.
