Was it bad? Absolutely. Was it also entertaining and ridiculous? Of course.

I was in the mood for a silly head empty book and was finally wore down enough to start this series. The opening act almost immediately being SA is giving a teenager writing their first “edgy” fanfic, but in true tumblr form I trudged through that and overall it was essentially exactly what I expected from an alien romance novel recommended to me by TikTok.

Terrible writing. A lot of rape. I was not prepared for that.

TLDR: Silly and sexy and dumb in all the right ways. Like cotton candy in book form.

Other than the rape in the first chapter, which seems to be a misguided attempt to establish stakes, this is a goofy, fluffy, funny little novel that is exactly what you would expect from the cover and title. Human women get stranded on ice planet, one of them gets picked up by a 7-foot-tall blue alien who sees her as his mate, hilarity and sexual escapades ensue.

The locals have very few women, so they're thrilled, which could have gone in a terrible direction, but they're all very respectful and consenty and concerned that their ladies are probably going to die because they're so soft and weak. It's a species of Wife Guys, but like, in a good way.

I'm not super into the pregnancy angle at the end or the fact that the main pair are scientifically fated to be mated, but again, the book is generally so silly and such an obvious fantasy that it's hard to be mad.

I’ve heard people mention this book quite a bit, and honestly it does live up to the hype. I don’t know how I expected the book to start, but the beginning was shocking, interesting, and I appreciated how quickly you’re thrown into the action.

The romance is intense and as plentiful as you expect, and I did love seeing how the groups have integrated together.

Probably will pick up the rest of the series eventually!

Honestly there was FAR too much sexual violence for my taste- even within the first 40 pages
