So. I blame all the romance bookstagramers for this one. In a good way! I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to dig into the series more.

This was so much fun! I wasn’t really expecting to love this as much as I did. The world building and the character building was so fun. I loved that the girls decided to call the planet Not-Hoth and all the other little nods to Star Wars. I can say with full honesty that I wasn’t planning to fall in love with these big blue aliens. But they were so sweet and kind to these humans that crash landed on their planet. It was just lovely!

I really enjoyed Ice Planet Barbarians and I don’t know what to do with myself right now, because I want to jump into the next book, but I have so many others that I need to get to before that one! I guess I’m gonna have to do some rearranging of the TBR 😅. Anyway! This one is getting a solid four and a half stars!

This was honestly much better than expected! I thought it would be like a crack fanfic but it has a ton of heart and a lot of small interesting elements. Reminds me a lot of Nina Bangs in writing style, except scifi. Very funny but not annoyingly so.

Some bits at the beginning were really horrifying though.

It will look weird rated a 4 next to send of my other 4s, but I think it's important to rate things based on what they were trying for, and this is a really decent romance novel.

I liked this way more than I expected to. The first chapter or two were very dark and potentially triggering (see below), but after Georgie finds Vektal, things were overall delightful. Not as light and fluffy as I thought it would be, but very enjoyable.

Part of me wishes the sex had been a little more creative. You're inventing a whole alien race and planet! You could totally reinvent sex!! But I still enjoyed it just fine.
Plus a little nub that exactly hits your clit during penetration?? YES PLEASE.

Not sure why I was expecting an alpha alien, but Vektal was all cinnamon roll. I loved how he just did everything in his power to take care of Georgie, was firm in his love of her but never forced her hand
(except perhaps in a dubious-consent scene when he wakes her up with cunnilingus, before understanding that she did not have the same understanding of resonance/mating as him; we are in her head when it happens and she is happy going along with it)
.

Advice: Read the first chapter and then just skim until they crash-land on the ice planet — there’s an unnecessary and upsetting scene where a supporting character is raped that may make many readers want to quit the book entirely.
