Idk if I’m just realizing that I love friends to lovers or what, but I really enjoyed this! If you’re gonna read a romance about f1 I think you have to be prepared for a romance fitting for that world, which is over the top. I thought it was interesting that it’s the same timeline as book 1 Throttled but from different characters, and I guess I liked these characters and their storyline a bit more. While at first Liam seems rather pushy he clearly is coming from a place of personal trauma, and at his core is just a very kind person. He has good character growth by the end.

Its alright, nothing spectacular but the spice is right. It’s more adventurous than Throttled, but I’m hoping that Wrecked kicks it up another notch!

I wanted to read this book because I love Lauren Asher. I think she is brilliant and amazing. I loved the Dreamland Billionaire series and still think about the Kane Brothers almost daily. I wanted to read more of Lauren’s work whilst waiting for Love Redesigned. I read Throttled and loved it and loved the sneak peek of Liam and Sophie’s chemistry that I was dying to read the next one.
This book has two points of view. The first is Sophie Mitchell. Her dad owns Bandini and she has asked if she can follow him around the world to watch the F1 and do her college classes online. Why does she want to follow him? She is sick of her classes and of bad sex. She decides to make a “Fuck it” list where she wants to do a bunch of naughty things including foreplay with ice. Liam has promises to fulfill all of these items, but he is F1’s golden boy and a complete fraud. He is charming, devious and seductive. Even though he promises to help with the list, Sophie forces him to stay in the friend zone. Instead of accepting the friendship, Liam strikes a deal. One season. One list. One dirty secret. The second point of view is Liam Zander. Sophie is his greatest fantasy brought to life. And a major threat to his contract renewal with his dream team. She's part of the rival team and someone he should resist at all costs. He doesn’t let anyone get close to him since he lost his sister-in-law around Christmas time. Since then, he has shut himself off to everyone including his family and puts on a different persona when he is at work. Everyone is against the friendship. His boss, Sophie’s dad and himself included. Yet, he is captivated by her and the naughty list she created. Screw platonic, he wants catastrophic.
Both of these MCs need therapy. That's the short version of this review. The longer version of this review is that both of these MCs were therapy to each other. Sophie was teaching Liam to trust people again and to be his true self and Liam was teaching Sophie to be brave and to follow her dreams instead of doing things to make her dad or other people happy. I don’t really vibe with friends to lovers but because I think there was a bit of hate and secretiveness, I think that’s what made it better. I know that it got a lot of hate, but Sophie wearing trainers with a gala dress is giving me life, because I would do the exactly same thing and I'm smaller than Sophie. Liam’s story just made me want to hug him for like 65% of the book, I'm really glad he managed to come out of his shell during the book.
I wouldn’t say there are any weaknesses to this book, it just felt like it was missing something and I can’t put my finger on what it was exactly. I felt like it was repeating some of Throttled as they both happen around the same time so I was skimming them a bit. I am hoping that Jax and Elena’s book is going to be good from the chemistry we have seen in this book.
Lauren Asher knows how to write men. Liam’s confession and showing up once everything was sorted was so freaking cute. She also knows how to write Epilogues because I was screaming at both of them.

I wanted to like this one but I could NOT get past the dialog. The number of times I found myself thing "who SAYS this" was unreal (based on the number of notes I made along this line, at least 12). Also, holy internalized misogyny.
