Fantastic! I want Karl Pilkington as my mate!

It was mildly funny, but Karl isn’t really an idiot. Just made for a better title. And as someone who travels a lot, I felt the situations they put Karl in were unusually awful. They really put this man in the worst kind of situations to make it funny when he complained about it. I only finished the book because it was easy to read.

The thing about Karl Pilkington is that I never really know what to think. In the podcasts he comes across as, well, an idiot half the time, but I imagine part of that is because Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant make him seem that way. When reading this book however, it's clear that he's not exactly an idiot. (Well, maybe he is in a way, but that's not my point.) Unless of course it's heavily edited, but it doesn't sound that way. It's pretty nicely written and kind of cleverly done, here and there. He's just got the weirdest views I've ever heard, and some of them are quite dumb. Mostly just weird, though, I have to say. Sometimes I can get into them, sometimes I can't.

Nonetheless, this was a pleasant read. It's no high-end literature, but it's fun to read. I was a little dissapointed by the amount of times it made me laugh which was.. maybe once? But hey, what can you do.

It is a decent read, however the actual show which is available on Netflix is way more entertaining, seeing Karl's face expression when a new challenge is ahead being absolutely priceless.

A dozen of good pictures and scribbles from the travels if you plan to buy the paperback edition, but other than that though, it remains as a simple transcript of the actual show.
