Going in blind was the best decision as I had no idea what to expect, except for a few tropes. This is raw, deep and emotional with a grief and healing journey all these characters go on. I don’t want to give too much away but it was heartbreaking at the start, watching a character's legacy piece together broken parts was just beautiful to read. The medical appointment scene had me screaming. The spice was intimate and the Audiobook narration was fantastic highly recommend it. I will say it’s a little long and a big factor in having this on my TBR it could more than likely make me cry. I love a good cry but I didn’t in this. I can understand why people do but I just felt sad for everyone involved.

Trigger warning: book included significant talk about suicide and grief associated with suicide. Please be safe when choosing to start this book.

That being said, wow! I am heartbroken, and overjoyed, and i felt so many emotions alongside all these characters. What an epic tale of loss and recovery. The spice was good, definitely more on the angsty side of things. But I enjoyed how it played into the overall story.

Genuinely, I feel like the best parts of this book was when it was from the perspective of anyone but the FMC. The FMC comes off to me a little 2D and lacks the emotional baggage that comes from her backstory.

The brother’s POV was a lot more interesting and his character development was truly enjoyable to read where the FMC’s fell flat to me. The dad’s character development was also gratifying but I also loved how the author depicted how broken relationships is hard to fix even if you wanted to change. I wished we could have gotten more POV from them both.

In the end, the true starring character is Kellan Marchetti. And the name drop was 🥲💔

This book destroyed me! I have never cried so early in a book or related to a book more! I don't know if this makes sense but this book helped me a lot somehow it was so healing to read and sometimes I broke down and I was really scared that they wouldn't end up together but they did and I loved it! I have never felt something like this after reading a book and I don't know what it is that I feel but omg this book it deserves more fame I LOVE IT!!

This book destroys you, it clutches onto your heart and rips it out. Shredding it into millions of  pieces,  only to tape the edges back together by the end .

Such a heartbreaking, raw, beautiful, love story within another love story.
I cried three times so be warned lol

By far one of my favorite reads ❤️  My heart left a piece of itself within this book and I frankly don’t ever want it back .

5✨❤️😭

Favorite quote :
“I realized, with depressing clarity, that she wasn’t the venom at all. She was the antidote. But the quantities were all off.”

This book illustrates trauma and mental health. I would liken it to 13 Reasons Why only I think this might be more impactful. Heartbreaking and tear jerking but it helps you feel the loss and the closure the characters are desperate to find.

I read this novel without really reading the synopsis. I just knew I liked books by this author. And my god, while I wouldn't recommend doing that if you're faint of heart, this novel gut punched me. Haymaker to the heart. I was not okay.

Then together with our FMC, we learned to grieve and heal and try to make the best of things.

The author has a magical way with words, and having a novel within a novel takes the reader on a journey through the neuroses of being a writer and the power words have within and without the author's intention.

And somewhere along the way we also get to fall in love with older brother Tate-- a man we've been groomed to hate from the beginning and an OBGYN who made me regret for a split second choosing to have only female gynos in my life. But like all main characters in a Parker S Huntington novel, there's more to him than meets the eye, and like all of us, he's a little broken inside too.

I loved this novel. I loved Tate and Charlie. I still love Kellan. And I'm going to look closer at those I love and check in more. Just in case.
