Basically, reading twisted love made me realise that despite having some of the best tropes, the story falls short due to poor writing and execution. Twisted love is the first book among Twisted series. The book has dual pov of both Alex and Ava which was interesting rather sticking to single lead pov. The four books center around Ava and her three best friends which is again another interesting setup which will possibly show different personalities and their relationship dynamics. The beginning of the book is good, but the more you read, the more you feel the urge to DNF it but I didn't end up doing it .

1. Firstly ,it has the most amazing trope of the brother's best friend. The central idea of this trope was built naturally and seemed fine. Then it is supposedly said to have grumpy x sunshine. Ava does have a personality of sunshine but calling Alex a grumpy guy is actually changing the definition of the word grumpy. He is so cranky, bad-tempered and irritable. He might be called anti-hero or morally grey but his personality is not too ambiguous when it comes to morals. He is always willing to take the violent course of actions. The bed sharing trope was written well.

2. Both the leads have traumas and they cope differently. One is so aloof and the other is friendly. The opposites attract is shown well in this story. Male lead is quite a confusing character when it comes confiding in his feelings. The twists were not twisting and are very much predictable.

3. Alex is definitely not the type of guy one must date. He is the yandere type of guy. The fact that he is rich, influential, handsome, and has an IQ of 160, along with other unrealistic qualities, does not make him unapproachable. Rather, it is his sheer toxicity, which takes no detour and continues to lead the way from beginning to end, that makes him so. He is extremely possessive, obsessive and threatens every being who is close to Ava when things don't go his way.
He even resorts to stalking and begging after betraying her and treating her poorly.

4. His character development was not strong enough but his soft natured feelings seemed genuine. The morally grey characters can be handled very well but Ana did not quite make him likeable except for few instances which cannot let you blind eye towards his insane behaviour. The smut was so cringey and so aggressive.

I liked Alex in the beginning. He was broody, dark and mysterious.  I read dark romances, this isn't even dark compared to some stuff I've read. I usually want the villain to get the girl but I ended up really disliking Alex by the end of the book.
Honestly I was rooting that he wouldn't get Ava... and then he stalks her for like.... 6 months-ish? And then sings in front of a crowd and suddenly she wants to take him back? Blech.
I enjoyed the banter and dialog. I also enjoyed Ava's character development and what she was able to face down and overcome. Ava was honestly what kept me reading.

There were times that I felt the plot wasn't very believable or the characters actions made me raise an eyebrow in disbelief. Also there was a certain point in the book where it was very obvious (to me at least) what the upcoming 'twist' was and where this whole thing was headed.

💭Personal thoughts: let’s just start with the fact that I hate how this is marketed as a “Brother’s best friends” trope, when it’s nothing like that. Her brother cares but he’s not even in the story until the end. He’s literally gone most of the book. It’s very grumpy x sunshine trope and has dark themes. Check trigger warnings if needed. I love the aspect that she’s into baking, I love when characters have cute hobbies. If you read the synopsis, I enjoyed both issues that Alex & Ava had. Between their childhood traumas and how they go about it. Plot twist so be weary of reading spoilers!

🤔Yes, no, maybe? maybe… I enjoyed the plot and storyline. A bit too spicy for me but I enjoyed the storyline and romance more than my dislike of the spice. Would recommend more for smut lovers.

❤️‍🔥Spicy level:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 | pretty spicy, kinda intense for me.

🧯Spicy chapters: 22,24,26,42

Some parts are it were solid, others were a little too predictable for me. (Did appreciate that this whole relationship was over a fairly long time period than just a couple weeks, like some other books.)
It seemed like it was almost a mafia book, but with no mafia.
