I've been trying to get back into reading physical books and kinda forced myself to finish this book in one sitting. The book isn't terrible but I could tell from a writers perspective that this book was rushed up until publication. Storyline  isn't  bad but I would have loved to see more detail in the groveling (No spoilers iykyk) and I felt like some more foreshadowing and symbolism would have made this book better. Also the main issue that put a rift in the MC's relationship wasn't  much of an issue. It was like "oh they broke up" "oh he lied to her to" "wait she took him back that fast?!?!" (I know it was over a year later but it felt rushed to me.) Anyways it's not a bad book I just probably wouldn't  read it again and just skip the #2 & #3 which were my personal favorites.

I did not want the characters together. Alex is toxic AF and I would have gotten myself a restraining order since chap. 5.
Even if I would not be able to since ✨ corruption ✨.
I liked the spice and the mental health representation, that's it.
I will try the sequel to see if the author is going to be a "no-buy author" for me.

Closed Door Mods: Chapter 22, Chapter 24 (some parts), Chapter 26 (some parts), Chapter 43 (some parts)

Not going to lie, this book is a bit intense, but it works (highly recommend checking out content warnings before deciding to read this). Twisted Love almost felt more romantic thriller to me since there are a lot of thriller aspects in the book, but this book kept me glued to my Kindle screen and had me to the very last page.

Really good dynamics between Ava and Alex and I liked how Huang took time to explore Alex’s moral greyness. I'm currently reading another one of her works (King of Pride) and I really like Huang's writing style when it comes to these complex characters and their relationships with others. Also, if you’re a fan of groveling in romance books, Huang has so much of that in Twisted Love. Read if you want a dark, grumpy x sunshine romance that has a similar vibe to a romantic thriller.

I liked the book enough to finish it..

I liked the steamy scenes/ spice level, and I liked the plot twists. The story was interesting enough for me to keep reading.

BUT:

The possessiveness / stalker tendencies of Alex were SO bad - like if a man ever behaved this way with me I’d be calling the police and I hate how Ana Huang romanticized his behaviour. So much of the plot was cringey and unrealistic. The writing is not going to win any awards either.

This was predictable but it was funny and just a good time dude.

Listen. The plot? Predictable. The characters? Mid. The vibes? Immaculate. This was so fun. I laughed out loud. I swooned. I had multiple WTF moments about her being just so OK with him being like, a murderer and being an overbearing, jealous, grade A for Asshole, douchebag. However, I'm going to read the rest of them because the banter (when things weren't going like, completely off the rails) was actually quite fun. And I did enjoy the female characters so like, I want the next one.
