Ava and Alex both have some CPTSD and it adds to the very DARK romance they find with each other. I am not a fan of possessive/borderline abusive behavior so Alex was definitely a turn off. He is possessive, manipulating and gas lights Ava which is something Ava has struggled with her whole life from her dad.

3/5 ⭐️
Read this over a few days and rated it 4/5 stars originally then scaled it down t0 3/5 because it wasn't that good.
Ava is you're typical protagonist, she's upbeat, cheerful and bubbly and looks at the world through a (naive?) perspective. She's a photographer and in college studying photography. She doesn't have any major flaws or red flags as a character so it feels unrealistic.
Alex is you're stereotypical grumpy macho man and Ava's brother's best friend. He's you're typical cynical, grumpy multimillionaire who's built his fortune and guess what?! He calls Ava crude and disparaging names in the bedroom. Sound familiar??
The plot overall kept me interested, although towards the end it was predictable and an underwhelming finish. Also where did the singing come from it's mentioned twice in the whole novel??
