Pros: funny, good writing, interesting plot, a bit of thriller mixed in
Cons: morally gray love interest af
who STAYS morally gray
; more than a few  violent actions by said love interest I thought were totally unnecessary to the plot and made me question if I wanted to continue. Sure, this is fiction, but I’m not going to LIKE IT!
genuinely why did he have to kill TWO PEOPLE?!

That all being said (lol), I already started the second book and the vibes are MUCH lighter. You could definitely skip the first book if you are concerned about the trigger warnings.

Okay... this series has had my attention and been on my TBR for too long so I finally got around to book one and wow! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I know so many of these romances are essentially carbon copies of each other and I could not care any less. They are feel good, entertaining, and when they are spicy they really got me hooked! There is also something so hot about a Businessman/billinoiare trope. I think the only thing I like more about these types of romances is the fact that the authors know to make them series. I already know who the next 3 books are going to follow and I’m pumped! I really liked this one but it wasn’t my favorite simply cause I wasn’t fully obsessed with Alex or Ava. I liked them but I wasn’t as attached as I normally get in these storylines. I do, however, have high hopes for the rest of this series.

Okay so it's a fun quick read, so I see where all the love is coming from. I, too, love an enemies to lovers trope. However, maybe it was the dual perspective for me, but it kinda seemed to come out of nowhere. It was very much "definitely not, but they're hot" to "omg we should be together". It just didn't feel developed enough. The slow burn could've burned a little slower. The immediate vulgarity the first sexual encounter was a bit much for me too, and in general I cringed a bit at the sex scenes and a lot of the dialogue. Especially
after they made up in London, the fact that he immediately starts degrading her in the bedroom (although I understand it's a kink) after so long of being apart was very jarring to me. Would you not want to ease into it? She just forgave you a second ago, maybe don't call her a slut right away.
In general, the possessiveness of Alex over Ava made him a bit unlikeable to me. I do enjoy the "I'm yours and you're mine" in general, but when someone lays a claim immediately when dating and even after having fucked up severly it pisses me off a bit. I did like the characterisation though, but found myself being more drawn to the Rhys-Bridget storyline at the end of the book. It seemed more respectful. Maybe this genre of romance (possessive and degrading in the bedroom) is just not really for me anymore. I more enjoyed the healthy aspects of their relationship
learning to swim, watching a movie
so if those could've been explored more and with some occasional spice I would've enjoyed it more.

After all that criticism I will probably still read the Rhys&Bridget book because I am intrigued and because I did infact enjoy reading this book, it just cringed me out too much at times.

I LOVED this book. It’s like it was specifically For Me. I went in expecting very little from the actual plot but honestly? The romance and the dark twists had me captivated.

One of the first books I have read after years of avoiding them, and it wasn’t bad for me. I will admit, some parts were overbearing and made me cringe; but overall, I enjoyed it. The detail and the way of writing was good.
