Pros: funny, good writing, interesting plot, a bit of thriller mixed in
Cons: morally gray love interest af
who STAYS morally gray
; more than a few  violent actions by said love interest I thought were totally unnecessary to the plot and made me question if I wanted to continue. Sure, this is fiction, but I’m not going to LIKE IT!
genuinely why did he have to kill TWO PEOPLE?!

That all being said (lol), I already started the second book and the vibes are MUCH lighter. You could definitely skip the first book if you are concerned about the trigger warnings.

I like it but since English isn’t my native language it was hard to understand it also there were quite a lot of characters. And I didn’t get so many pictures in my head as I would like.

Fans of this book, I get you. And I am now officially one of you.

The whole experience of reading this book, witnessing Ava and Alex fall in love and come to terms with their pasts, was just something else. The amount of times I paused the audiobook to cackle, squeal, and scream out loud!!!

That said, I also understand the other end of the enjoyment spectrum. I get why some people dislike this book—some parts did go a bit over the top. But I guess I'm just a sucker for a morally gray, 'I have no emotions' hero who softens for his ray of sunshine. I'm not mad at a sprinkle of dominance in the bedroom either.

Sorry not sorry.

Poorly written. Full of cliches. Generally frustrating. Honestly only finished the book for the spice. A cheap read. Several parts of the book are unrealistic, such as the FMC's friend group (
ONE OF THEM IS A PRINCESS FOR GOD'S SAKE
). The twist for the FMC was good and well executed, but the twist for the MMC was predictable. The fact that there were still 12 chapters after the climax was wayyyy too much. Also the ending is extremely unrealistic. The portrayal of FMC "getting over" her PTSD and phobia are EXTREMELY unrealistic. That is not something a bf can help you through. She needed PROFESSIONAL HELP. If he really cared about her, he would've set that up for her or helped her through it. Spoilers Ahead:
IF ANYONE WAS FOLLOWED BY AN EX BF FOR OVER A YEAR, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN POLICE, A RESTRAINING ORDER, THE WHOLE 9 YARDS. LIKE THIS GIRL NEEDS HELP. STALKING IS NOT OKAY. Just... so so frustrating. ALSO sooo mad at the princess for telling MMC (FMC's ex) that she was moving countries!!! Just let her continue her life in peace and meet someone else better!! She should've ended up with the Australian guy and worked for National Geographic and lived the life of her dreams. F the MMC. He's not worth it. ALSO ALSO the portrayal of her "getting over" her PTSD and aquaphobia infuriated me. It was like 2 paragraphs and poof, hardly afraid of water. Like no, that's not how this works AT ALL. Take it from someone who has childhood PTSD: this is not written correctly. Especially since her 'therapist' was also orchestrated by her dad, like her life should've been way worse, way more depressing, way darker. Yes, you can put on a mask and appear happy around people, the your outlook on life is not going to be good. Okay, I guess I've ranted enough.
Honestly, not worth the read. ALSO ALSO ALSO, the girl in the audiobook freaking whispers the whole time. I don't want a girl whispering in my ear for 12 hours!!!

Okay so it's a fun quick read, so I see where all the love is coming from. I, too, love an enemies to lovers trope. However, maybe it was the dual perspective for me, but it kinda seemed to come out of nowhere. It was very much "definitely not, but they're hot" to "omg we should be together". It just didn't feel developed enough. The slow burn could've burned a little slower. The immediate vulgarity the first sexual encounter was a bit much for me too, and in general I cringed a bit at the sex scenes and a lot of the dialogue. Especially
after they made up in London, the fact that he immediately starts degrading her in the bedroom (although I understand it's a kink) after so long of being apart was very jarring to me. Would you not want to ease into it? She just forgave you a second ago, maybe don't call her a slut right away.
In general, the possessiveness of Alex over Ava made him a bit unlikeable to me. I do enjoy the "I'm yours and you're mine" in general, but when someone lays a claim immediately when dating and even after having fucked up severly it pisses me off a bit. I did like the characterisation though, but found myself being more drawn to the Rhys-Bridget storyline at the end of the book. It seemed more respectful. Maybe this genre of romance (possessive and degrading in the bedroom) is just not really for me anymore. I more enjoyed the healthy aspects of their relationship
learning to swim, watching a movie
so if those could've been explored more and with some occasional spice I would've enjoyed it more.

After all that criticism I will probably still read the Rhys&Bridget book because I am intrigued and because I did infact enjoy reading this book, it just cringed me out too much at times.
