I wanted to finish the series....and as I was grabbing books the day the library closed for COVID...it was sitting there and yay.
I don't love this series....I think it is because its obviously inspired by Harry Potter, but not as good...and the magic doesn't always make sense. It is frustrating as much as I want to like it, because I do enjoy Rowell.
This is part II of the Simon and Baz story....they take the midwest of the US (roadtrip!) with Penelope...to rescue their friend who has moved to CA and stopped replying to P's texts. While crossing the States (Chicago to Las Vegas....to CA) they come upon American Magikals...and have to figure out how to negotiate with them. Baz is given the opportunity to learn about vampires....and Simon is trying to figure out his new skin and how he feels about Baz.
The story was fine. It took me awhile to get into it....and I hardheartedly in my need for easy reading got through it while in "isolation".
Read if you enjoyed the first....

Not going to lie, I'm a little bit pissed off annoyed. This book was just pointless and clearly a filler book until the next one comes out.
