Loved the plot and the characters. Did not care for the narrator. Too slow and almost robotic.

Entertaining Series

This is an entertaining series that gets better with each book. Myrtle is quite a card at times and doesn't know the meaning of taking it easy. Her supporting cast is starting to grow on me. I look forward to continuing the series.

Like other cozy mysteries it is formulaic, but it's important to have that familiarity sometimes.

This was a free book on Kindle so I had nothing to loose. It was a very light read and it was OK but a poor copy of the Agatha Raisin books

Should by 3.5 stars :) Another entry in the Myrtle Clover mystery series. Very light fun cozy mystery reading. Perfect travel read. This is the fourth book in the series but only the second that I have read. I got it for my Kindle and read it out of order. I love the quirky protagonist, who is the bane of her son’s existence. I really enjoy this type of sleuth. The sidekick in the form of neighbor, Miles, who seems equally appalled as excited by Myrtle’s investigative antics is perfect.

Writing is good, but I really did not like the main character. I am sorry, but if your reaction to your gardener finding a dead body in your backyard is to get upset when the man and his wife reaction reasonably, I have a problem with you. Sorry. It's not Craig. It is me.

Myrtle's ancient yardman opened up the back door, not bothering to wipe his boots on the mat, and trampled through the kitchen and living room all the way to Myrtle's front door.

This is the fourth book in the Myrtle Clover series. Myrtle is an octogenarian livening in a small NC town and keeps getting involved with murder. This time her neighbor's shady cousin is found in Myrtle's back yard with his head bashed in. Her favorite Viking gnome is the murder weapon. Myrtle's son, Red lives across the street and is the chief of police. Despite Red's pleading, Myrtle noses around to catch the killer.

I have read these books out of order and perhaps that created the lower rating. I just can't get into the characters although Myrtle is spunky and generally quite likeable. The murderer is revealed fairly quickly. A quick easy read but probably not a series I will pursue.

Meh

This book gets a low 3* from me. It dragged on far too long. Way too many times of telling us how old the mc is...just wasn't that great.
