This was a weird one because I think the concept is interesting but the execution was fucked up? This series’ lore kinda makes no sense to me in the first place, especially the mating bonds and alpha magic and shit. But anyway. Rich brat gets kicked out of his family, flees to a casino and lies his way into a debt he can’t repay and ends up in sexual slavery to a man he ruined 10 years before. What drove me crazyyyy is that Blake just accepts the situation without pushing for a written contract. It’s basically « this stranger will be fucking me until they’re done with me and the I will go. » GIRL GET SURVIVAL INSTINCTS. The beginning is pretty rapey and never really acknowledges it, but I love the brat x the grump dynamics sm… this was a bit of a guilty pleasure. My last gripe with this series is that the bad guys are always so superficial and boring and the writing does nothing to make them engaging. They’re always sluts who wan’a bone the love interest which often reads as so damn hypocritical lmfao. Definitely has a bunch of trigger warnings here, from undernegociated kinks to non/dub con. I kinda liked Blake though and genuinely felt terrible for him. He might not be a good person because he was raised spoiled, but the entire experience sounded traumatic, his pleasure being forcibly tied to shame… that was soo vicious. Also the morale of the story is kind of fucked up when you think about it. But eyyy werewolves!

Audiobook: Narrator: Chris Chambers 5 Stars ⭐️

This book was hot to read and even hotter to listen to but I have to say I didn’t feel the connection between them this time either because there’s not a lot of romance just fucking. Since we are only in Blake’s POV, I just needed more from Declan

I took me a bit longer to get into this book since I found both MCs to be pretty unlikable. Blake was basically just a spoiled brat and the way Declan’s goes about his (maybe just a little justified) revenge was a little extreme. I may not have clicked with the characters but I still found them to have excellent sexual chemistry and their sex scenes were deliciously filthy. Maybe not my favourite entry in this series but still pretty entertaining overall.

This book was really hot. Their relationship was very sex focused for a significant portion of the book, but the two alpha dynamic was great. I thought that forcing Blake to knot while bottoming was perfect as that's rare, so the humiliation was on point. I do think there could have been more signs of romance, as I was left wondering when either of them started to develop feelings for each other.

Overall, I love this story, but it should be longer. The ending seems to be rushed.

A brief review of the book:
Writing style was decent; it didn't hinder me from enjoying the story and generally had an easy flow, which made the book all the more easy to read. One complaint I have, if I'm allowed to have one, would be the inconsistency of the main characters' personality throughout the two-thirds of the book. It wasn't bad enough that it made me want to drop the book from time to time, but it did bothered me because it was a lost opportunity to have a slow-burn romance story with consistent characterization of the two main characters. One thing I loved most about the book was the intense and animalistic... you get what I mean. Overall, a strong and decent read!!!
