Murray cuts through the current dog-whistle, identity politics with precision in this entertaining, easy to digest piece of work focusing on the topics Gender Identity, Women, Gay and Race. Certainly many will find this provocative and offensive, though I do not question Murray's intention to gather some momentum by being provocative. Personally I found the whole book refreshing; veering so far away from the "accepted" narratives of 2021 with another argument for individuality rather the group based societies.
He does make some odd suggestions - particularly that people see the "golden" ages of the past as beacons of how far we have fallen and how to change society. I don't know anyone who would make the case that race, sexuality, gender identity or female rights/equality was "better" a century ago and I am unsure where he gets this idea.
Overall an enjoyable, cutting and edgy read. Steer clear if you are far along your social justice journey, you will likely end up getting angry and resentful. If you are, however, on the fence on issues and wanting another perspective then by all means go get this book today!
