Essentially a story about relationships set in and around the White House and the culture of power. The characters are well-defined and somewhat predictable, yet engaging nonetheless. This novel brings the power brokers into human focus with all of their gifts, emotions, strengths and flaws. EIGHTEEN ACRES is an engaging story driven by likable characters and a believable plot line.

I loved this book! I recommend it to any other polical news junky. The author is a former white house aid so it's very fun to read about things that the general public doesn't know about white house / washington life. Additionally, it's a fun fictional novel.

Reasonably fun read, but not well written. It's clunky and needed more aggressive editing. I almost didn't get past the opening scene, it's so bad. Every line of dialogue is followed by "the president said" or "Charlotte said" or "said Melanie." It's truly cringe-worthy, you're supposed to learn not to do that by what, junior high? it smoothed out a little but the book was never anything more than mediocre fluff for me.

Just okay. It started reasonably strong and then just got sillier and sillier. I skimmed to the end.

This is a fun, light book set at the White House. If you've spent any time working in DC, or know someone who has, then you'll probably enjoy this book better than someone who hasn't. The author captures some of the crazy spirit of this place pretty well.

I found this to be an interesting, if not predictable, book. I did expect more in depth politics than the story contained but I still enjoyed it.

I don't usually go for political thrillers, but my husband's been following politics a lot lately and I heard Nicolle Wallace talking about her books the other day on TV and the stories sounded interesting.

I would have thought a helicopter explosion and campaign and the first female president would have been riveting. It was just ok.
