What a cute little story. I read this in (I think) 5th grade and it is still as heartwarming as I remember.

I read this book aloud to my seven-year-old niece over a video chat twice a week, and we both enjoyed it a lot. It's a great book for reading aloud, because it feels like a fairytale and is very poetic with beautiful imagery. My niece's eyes lit up with delight every time she pieced together bits of the story--realising that something from one of the intermittent stories had come to life in some way in Minli's journey. A beautiful and engaging tale.

This was my latest reread from my childhood bedroom bookcase, and it more than held up.

How much is "thankfulness" conflated with toxic positivity? Or used to oppress others?

Or, how necessary is thankfulness?
