I haven't read any of this author's books before but have heard good things about her. After books about gangsters and serial killers I was particularly looking forward to something a bit lighter.
After 10 years with her boyfriend Lizzy is unexpectedly on her own. She realises she no longer knows who she is so sets out to become the person she wants to be.
I read this book on and off in one day. It didn't have my attention so much that I couldn't put it down but I did enjoy picking it up and reading more. There were a couple of bits that I didn't think went with the storyline (Christmas present from her sister, really?!) but on the whole it was enjoyable. The extra 1/2 star is for the ending.
ARC copy received for honest review.

I’m bored! Idk how a beginning so entertaining falls so fast. After the breakup I’m struggling to hold onto anything worth learning more about this character

As much as I love Giovanna, I just really dislike her books. They’re not my cup of tea and do all seem very same-y same-y.

This was a heart-warming read with lots of characters who were very well-written. At points, just reading dialogue was enough to identify the characters speaking without needing to pick out the names. The storyline was a meandering journey following Lizzy’s life in the months after the end of her long-term relationship. In places it occasionally felt slightly too optimistic as every new thing fell into place, but then life can be like that sometimes! I think the author saw that though because when Lizzy faced herself with joining a choir she did struggle which gave her depth. A really lovely read with a lovely final message:
‘Changing isn’t a weakness or something to be ashamed of. Evolving can only be seen as a success. Allowing people in will always be the making of me, whether for better or worse’.

Some Kind of Wonderful follows the story of Lizzy Richardson. A dream holiday to Dubai ends in a break up from her partner of 10 years, Ian, and not the proposal she had in mind. The story follows what Lizzy does after the break up.
It was quite empowering, but it was far too long. A fluffy and overall fun read. Also, I found the characters of Lizzy and her sister Michelle to be quite annoying. However, I did like the mention of parts of Giovanna's own life in the book.
