A great read where the need for love triumphs over seemingly insurmountable odds. Thirty-something, Jubilee Jenkins has been a recluse for the past 9 years, avoiding all human contact. For her, it was a matter of life and death, as she suffers from an extremely rare allergy, in that she is allergic to the human skin cells of others. However, her financial circumstances change and she is forced to leave the sanctuary of her home and earn an income, no mean feat. Her struggle to overcome her fears and re-enter mainstream society, together with learning how to form relationships is the crux of this well told story. Some wonderful characters in this book.

Charming story about relationship and connection with other people. I was caught a little off guard during the epilogue but like how things wrapped up.

This story makes you think about our physical and emotional connections, how fear can affect both of those connections and how friendship and love can help us do things that are out of our comfort zone. I connected to each of the characters and wanted what is best for them all. I thought the ending was perfect! A great read for a time when you want something that's not super complicated, but will engage thought and emotion.

Sad and cosy and hopeful story. A girl, who can't touch people actually touches them in very deep way. A woman who can't have physical love, can love in so many different ways. Maybe I had too many thrillers with violence and hate, but this book was a fresh gulp of air. So simple, yet so interesting, with a feathery touch of romance, a bit drama (but not too much to make you cry) and quite realistic ending. Beautiful!

This was so much fun to read!
Jubilee was a great protagonist and we got to see exactly who she was, all laid out (sometimes that’s the great thing about a stand-alone). Her allergy, along with her fears and quirks were unique, yet also relatable. I could see clearly were she was coming from, even though our circumstances and situations differ.
Eric and Aja were great additions to the story and while their actions at times were frustrating, they were still believable. I like Eric’s effort and his consistency. Others, in his situation may have given up entirely. He did irritate me at times because he seemed to speak without thinking but overall, he was a decent character. Aja was crafted in such a way that while he frightens and frustrates you, like Eric, you want to do all you can to see him happy and thriving again.
This book deals with the differences in grief, mourning, phobias and allergies in a way that acknowledges the feeling of helplessness, yet leading you to see and understand, it’s different for everyone and even the most illogical choices and decisions can have the simplest and most logical explanations. Sometimes the best way to help, is to just make yourself available to listen.
I thought I saw the ending going one way, then it seemed to swerve in another direction, only to seemingly right itself. However, I was kind of hoping it went the way of the swerve. Either way I was caught off guard and that was a good thing. This was a really good read and one I would highly suggest.

Varmt tips!

A quirky book about behind the scenes of a small town library and the quirky humans who frequent it , plus a little romance and a rare disease...what's not to love?
