This is a well loved classic and it definitely had great prose. Unfortunately, I found it quite boring and ended up listening to the audiobook on 2x speed. Also, *whispers* antistiganism, Emily.

Es war ein sehr bezauberndes Buch! Ich liebte den Schreibstil sehr und die Erzählweise war ziemlich besonders, was ich auch mochte. Eine schöne Romanze-Geschichte sollte man aber bloß nicht erwarten, es ist eher das Gegenteil und ich sehe es mir in den Gothik-Bereich. Ein Abschnitt war für mich etwas anstrengend, langweilig, also nicht wirklich schlecht, aber nicht gut wie der Rest. Der Anfang war stark und das Ende war noch besser. Ich konnte beim Schluss gar nicht mehr aufhören zu lesen. Wegen diesen beeindruckenden Ende kann ich das Buch nicht weniger als vier Sterne geben.

I assumed this novel was a romance, but it was a tale of class, obsession, and revenge.  While I can appreciate this classic, I didn't enjoy it.

Everyone in this story is kind of awful. Even the great love story of the story is very toxic and between two people who bring out the worst in each other. After his great love, Catherine, betrays him, Heathcliff schemes and manipulates his way into destroying his own adopted family and that off his rival's.
