This is that rare read aloud that's a balance of rollicking good fun but also sweet, and the nameless, bespectacled, and perpetually worried elephant is one of my new favorite characters. This is a book that would work equally well as an at-home lapsit or in a classroom, and it says some great things about friendship without imparting a heavy-handed lesson. The wordplay and colorful illustrations (did I mention a bespectacled elephant?) make this book a hit.

I love a book that teaches a great lesson in a way that is both relatable and not preachy. Add in loads of humor and you’ve got a real winner which is what this book is! Like many kids, elephant has a desire to play the game, but he’s just no good at it. By trying different strategies and showing resiliency, elephant proves that everyone can be a winner. A great read for all ages!

I thought this was a very sad book.
His desperation to fit in and play a game that he is obviously not comfortable with is aparrent.
Poor guy
