Cute story overall. I loved watching them grow up, especially Blake who learns to be more confident despite his trauma and curse. I loved Ancia's simping for Tenstheon, Blake's father lol not weird, she is just saying objectively Tenstheon is hot. Blake's jealousy towards this also adorable.

I loved the backstory of the goddess and the original Emperor Phillip's crimes are exposed. I will say, some of the backstory felt horrific just to be horrific, like they needed a cruel villain and just made Philip as cruel as possible to justify Serpania's cruelty later on. The most shitty thing is Serpania gets zero punishment. Ancia's character is basically made some unrealistic angel for forgiving her and supposedly even becomes best friends with Ser later. I cannot suspend my disbelief of that.
Ser literally stole her body, tries to get between her and Blake to prove something that's not true to be petty, and blames her who isn't the original Laontelle for being 'late'. There's no forgetting that at least even if somehow one is able to forgive that.
But it is a fantasy novel so it is whatever the author wants. Despite the issues, I still enjoyed the read.
