The tension and suspense and worldbuilding and character growth and ROMANCE and angst and pure silliness in this book was EVERYTHING I needed.

10/10 recommend.

Trigger warnings for City of Glass include: homophobia and hate crimes; incest (except not quite), sexual assault, child abuse (recounted),domestic violence recounted, hallucinations,
graphic suicide & self harm recounted; pregnancy & childbirth mentioned; blood & gore depiction, including blood-drinking. Physical injuries,
dead bodies and medical content;
forced starvation; grief & loss depiction; deaths, murder & attempted murder; knife violence & stabbing; torture, poisoning, kidnapping and imprisonment; war themes & battle scenes.

I wasn't really paying a great deal if attention to this book as I was listening to it quite honestly. I've read this one before, and therefore already knew the major plot points before they happened. For the most part there weren't really any surprises in it, except for a few scenes I'd forgotten happened.
~
I'm glad I reread it because I do like this series but ultimately I just needed to read it to be able to get on to other books in this series I haven't read yet or don't remember all that well, like The Dark Artifices series.
~
As sad as this book might be for someone reading it for the first time, I didn't really feel any kind of emotions towards the events of the book despite knowing those things are sad things to have happened. And I don't know how to feel having finished the 3rd book in the main Mortal Instruments series.

City of Glass
4.75/5

- i really liked this book. it kept me hooked and the plot twists (the ones i didn't see coming such as
SpoilerHodge being Samuel
) made me jaw drop
- yk again i could really do without the whole
Spoiler Clary and Jace believe they are siblings but still go for it anyways thing. and it didn't have to drag on for TWO AND A HALF BOOKS

- i also could've done without that whole thing between Sebastian and Clary
Spoiler especially since there's a chance Sebastian knew Clary was his sister :/

- anyways ignoring that, i loved seeing Idris and i love that the whole plot was located there
- oh my god
Spoilervalentine died thank god i hated him i also hated that he killed jace

- this is pretty close up there with City of Bones (maybe it's a bit higher idk) but City of Ashes is definitely the worst one so far
- ALSO WHY DID
Spoiler MAX HAVE TO DIE
