What an absolutely bonkers book. It's made up of only six chapters; the very first chapter has a last-page reveal that made me gasp out loud and it only gets nuttier from there. I didn't think I was going to gobble this up in only two sittings but it's almost impossible to stop reading. Totally soapy, totally convoluted, but so compelling!

A novel that leaves you with the question, "who is the real victim and who is the real villain?"

I can totally see why everyone was so obsessed with this book last year. It's gripping, and I can guarantee that you'll never know what to expect. Each character's narrative brought a new layer to what might seem like a pretty open-and-shut plot if you just read the synopsis. Minato has definitely made me interested in picking up other Japanese mystery/thriller/crime books because this was so refreshing.

Well, that was pretty fucked up.

If i'm honest, it did get a little repetitive hearing more or less the same story told from different POV's, but it can't be denied that the book throws twist after twist until you can't even try to predict what's coming next.
