Not my favorite collection., but as always I love Eric LaRocca's ideas in his writing. They're weird, creepy, and gross.

My third book by Erik LaRocca. And again he doesnt disappoint. I think he is currently one of my favorite horror authors along with Clive Barker. I really like his vision on horror and writing.

They were here long before us is a collection of shorter stories about nature and love. The first few shorter stories are all from the perspective of animals and insects. The first story about the beetle falling in love with a corpse along the road has to be my favorite.

The final story in the book is also one of my favorites as the monster sounds really intriguing. I think it would also make a really cool short horror movie.

All in all a short but wonderful addition to my growing collection of books by Eric LaRocca. This is also quite a nice introduction to his work if you have not reading anything by him before.

I read this on kindle unlimited on a whim when I was in a silly, goofy, spooky mood and I'm so glad I did. Such a unique collection of very disturbing stories that are all connected through the themes of love and nature. LaRocca horrifyingly highlights both the the beautiful and the terrifying aspects of human nature.

Check the trigger warnings because there are quite a lot of them.
