This cozy started out strong, but quickly became a chore. This is my first time reading this author and this cozy series. Typically that’s not a problem, as authors tend to reintroduce characters and the setting with each installment- but I have to say I was lost with connections and history between all the players. I muddled through and figured it out by the end, but this author didn’t make it easy to jump into the middle of the series. I also didn’t care much for the MC. She was slow to make connections, she made the most bizarre decisions, and she didn’t act or ask questions like a normal person. I’m not sure I’d be able to read another cozy with her at the center. The ending was too quickly wrapped up, and it was cheesy, and the killer monologues for no reason.
Good things: the hook, the setting, and the mystery itself. I could practically smell the ocean and taste the sweet tea.
All in all, it was okay, but not sure I’d revisit this series any time soon.

Definitely better than the 3rd book. The relationship status is dragging on and on too long. Someone is always threatening her and Charm must be one of the most dangerous cities in the US for so many murders to happen there.

very cute but predictable

I really do enjoy this series. It is so cute! I listen to it on audible as well, because the girl who reads it is fantastic! However, this is book four, and this is the fourth time that I have guessed who the murderer is before I was even a quarter of the way through the book. I would like a little more intrigue, but I really do like the stories. They are fun! I adore the main Everly!!!!

Cosy mysteries are not my favorites, but this one was a gift so I read it. #4 in any series is not the best place to start, and there were several places where it was confusing due to that. However, this does not seem like the Outer Banks to me, even if only because there's no mention of traffic and the beach seldom has a lot of people on it. The idea that you could stuff a dead body into a giant cube of bees and not have bees flying all around is ludicrous. When does she shop, cook, and make 20 different flavors of iced tea? Altogether suspension of disbelief was not possible for a lot of this.

Another one I read in a day! These keep just being so much fun, I can't stop reading them. I've been listening to the audiobooks and I have to say the voice is also great. Really enjoying this series, it's making me want to read more cozy mysteries.

One thing I don't like is how Everly keeps commenting on her weight, I think it's supposed to make her relatable but it's starting to get uncomfortable. It feels unnecessary.
