Popsugar Reading Challenge 2023 - a book you meant to read in 2022

It's always satisfying when Eve and her chosen family of cops (with the help of her former thief, current gazillionaire gorgeous husband) take down the bad guys; but when the bad guys are truly awful fuckers like they were here, the payoff is sweeter.

Loved seeing my favorite characters in action again.

This is the first good one in a long while! It was like the dead junkie in the bathtub type of case where one murder led to something much bigger--but the way how this case unfolded was even better, because it truly does start small and grow big. The book puts a spotlight on Eve and the other cops fighting (and winning, of course) against bigotry in society. This case is definitely worthy of
Spoilerbeing Nadine's next book
! Asides from the case, we get an update on Mavis and big changes in her life. The book has a nice balance of daily life stuff and case stuff.
