english title: P.S. I love you
It's so weird, this book is comforting & at the same time so boring?? Sometimes I had to force myself to read through - I also once dnf'ed this book after listening to 1/4 of the audiobook. But I once got the second book as a present (without them knowing that it is a series), so I kinda had to read it til the end.
& although I didn't enjoy a lot, there were manyy funny & ofc sad moment. I will also read the second book, but it will take a while

She had been given a wonderful gift: life. Sometimes it was cruelly taken away too soon, but it was what you did with it that counted, not how long it lasted.
This ended up being a really beautiful story on grief and loss. I buddy read this and I went into it not knowing what the book was about and thinking it was a romance.
This book wasn't a romance but a story about a holly who lost her soulmate Gerry to a brain tumor and struggled with grief and life. She finds letters that Gerry left her and, throughout the book, sets out to do the things in the letter, and that leads to her learning to live with the grief, being more active with her family and friends while still honoring grief.
I don't get emotional when reading books, but this got a few tears out of me. My only issue is that it did take me quite a while to get into the book, and the 3rd person narration was confusing at times, but other than that, I liked this.

I remember reading P.S., I Love You on the train home from a conference and having to put the book down otherwise I would have ended up sobbing in public. What a great, yes sad, but great book. Highlighting that love doesn't end after death, but neither does life.

Bland self-absorbed characters, with over dramatic reactions.
Fairytale-esque representation of love and loss.
