Another good story of two Roman heroes. Story on a smaller scale.

Book 3 in the series featuring Macro and Cato, as they try and keep the Britons in check.
Recuperating from wounds received in book 2, they soon find themselves pitched up against a large army of barbarians while also having to deal with supposed allies.

When the battles got going, this was a good book, but everything else just seemed to be more of the same as previous books. One of the earlier story threads became quite predictable.

Overall, it picks up in the second half and becomes a decent page-turner, but there's not really any new development of the two main characters.
