Could not stand the main character's inner dialogue. Plot development and writing were iffy at best. Some very victim blame-y stuff going on. No anthropology or cannibalism.

The best part of this book was the originality. Never have I read a book about a girl who was captured by a mythical Siberian family and is trying to escape. I loved not knowing exactly what was going to happen. It is rare to find a book that keeps me on my toes, usually it is just so predictable.

The worst part of this book is that you wouldn’t expect this book to have a paranormal and fantasy aspect, and honestly, it doesn’t make any sense in the book, but it is there. Now, I think this book would have been more realistic if there had been no paranormal ghosty feelings to it at all. I mean, as realistic as a girl being captured by Siberian outcasts can be. The paranormal could have been taken out and still have gotten the same point across

I enjoyed it but honestly just wasn't really feeling the romance or the unexpected magical realism stuff.

Idk why I thought this was a thriller when I picked it up, boy was I wrong. Surprisingly I actually really enjoyed this story. Adrienne is still not over the death of her father, therefore she is the biggest brat to her stepdad. Even though he's risking everything to take her on this trip. They go on this adventure to uncover some secrets but everything goes oh so wrong. This story did keep you on your feet most of the time and it was entertaining.
