I have recorded a detailed but spoiler-free review of this book in my weekly podcast, which you can find here.

I’m a little surprised with how much I enjoyed this one? I found Fran to be a very easy character to root for. I wanted so badly for her to get out of her situation with Stew and to do well at this new job! The Crystal Ball sounded insane and I don’t even want to know if the super rich of the world actually have events like that. Also, I was glad for the Below Deck reference because as soon as she got on that yacht I thought “this is like Below Deck”.

Anyway, long story short if you enjoy these British romances featuring 30-something women (Mhairi McFarlane, Giovanna Fletcher, Beth O’Leary) then you’ll like this one too.

It was okay? I guess?
I liked that this is more a story about the main character figuring out who she wants to be and what she wants to do with her life than a romance. Because the romance was boring.
I wish we got to explore the friendship with Juliette more, because that was probably my favorite part of the book.

Overall I think the plot was a little all over the place, like the author wanted to explore a variety of themes and ended up not deepening any of them, but it was still an easy and mostly enjoyable read.

Typical beautiful story by Lindsey Kelk. One night to get to know each other, one night of no last names. Beautiful and funny this night of mystery as Fran and Evan get to know the beat of each other while trying so hard not to fall. I’d read this over and over because it makes you feel good. Definitely recommend!
