SpoilerSchwab created an interesting take on a time-travel story which crossed with the trope of selling your soul to the devil. The main theme of the story seems to be what happens when people have their wishes granted and the unanticipated consequences of those wishes. Addie finds that living her life as she wishes and for as long as she wishes results in her being absolutely forgettable by (nearly) everyone she meets. However, even with that consequence it eventually becomes clear that Addie does leave an impression on time in the form of art and ultimately words. Once she and Henry meet up, the pace of the story seems to pick up but it takes a bit to get there. There were a feel stretches of the narrative that dragged and seemed misplaced (or unnecessary) until I learned that Henry wrote down Addie's story. At that point, it made sense that Addie would have shared these seemingly out of place events from your life with Henry. This is also the point where it becomes quite obvious that this novel could potentially be considered a "dear reader" or found-manuscript story.

I have never seen the word "perhaps" so many times in a single book. Took about 33% of the way through to get to a point, then didn't find its pace again until the end.

Rapid fire thoughts bc I can’t write an actual review rn dear Jesus:

  • That book was such a mindfuck
  • Luc is hot as hell
  • Addie is kind of annoying for constantly blaming the darkness for the deal SHE MADE
  • Henry is kind of annoying but their romance was pretty cute
  • I will never stop thinking about this book holy shit.

As usual, Victoria's writing is exquisite, yet very simple & easy to consume. This is a great story. Could read it multiple times & draw out something special I missed before each time, I'm sure. My only gripe is with the current trend of writers & publishers shoe-horning in bisexual characters for the sake of doing so, where it is non-value added & serves no purpose at all, other than to score points on the virtue signal scoreboard. They're ruining books by trying to normalize it, when it's anything but. Aside from that, this is another great story with her special touch.

This book has a really great plot and strong characters. However, I found it went on a little too long at some points. I would definitely recommend it to others, but be prepared to hear some repetition and predict what's happening next.
