This book, similar to the first, describes a story of two men working through their individual traumas to better themselves and each other inside their relationship.

Pros: My main take away from this story was the way the author talks about sex and how trauma can affect someone’s views of sex. Unlike other books this topic wasn’t rushed through but was discussed in-depth by both parties in the relationship. This was something that made me truly love this book and rate it a four stars.

Cons: The only thing, in my opinion, that needed improving was the pacing. I felt like at times the characters felt a bit disjointed and overall needed a bit more fleshing out.

Overall: This book discussed beautiful and sensitive topics about grief, love and loss. It was a positive read that left me feeling hopeful for the couple’s  future by the end of the book.

I went into this thinking it would just take up some time but it turned out to be so wonderful and I sped through it very quickly. Its heavy on emotional trauma, consent, identity, and love but its also sweet, fun, soft, and entertaining. Charlie has intrusive thoughts and Rye has a lot of self-doubt that he works on constantly- its so nice that these aren't magically fixed by getting a partner. I love that its 3rd person pov and the sex was phenomenal

This was such a lovely read! It was cozy and sweet and fun. Can this book be my new home? Because it’s an absolutely adorable world and I just love this little fictional town so much. 😊

Honestly, Rye and Charlie are the sweetest grumpy and grumpier couple ever. I loved Rye for being so open about any and everything. And the fact that he would talk your ear off about music at the drop of a hat. He’s definitely got that Seattle vibe about him. And Charlie, for being so hesitant and shy about asking for the things that he wants. I really liked that he had such a gruff caretaker vibe and would do literally anything for anyone at the expense of himself. I also really liked that this book dealt with some self discovery and kink discovery. It was all wrapped up so nicely together in the best way possible.

We can’t forget about the cats! They absolutely stole the show at every opportunity and we’re just the cutest. I also loved what Rye did with the house he inherited!

I think it’s pretty obvious that I loved this book. It has everything I needed in a romance: a cute couple, some adorable cats, and a great small town to set it all in. This is getting a solid five stars and I can’t wait to read the next book!
